Stamps...Stamps...Stamps

Thankfully there are fun options beyond the liberty bell or the kitschy "wedding stamps" - have you seen the new ones? Can we say CHEESY?

The way I see it there are a few more fun options out there...

Option One: Design your own

At places like zazzle.com or stamps.com, postage can be designed from photos, image and personalized to your event! You can't get more personalized then that! Once we used a vintage postcard image of a courthouse for two attorneys who were getting married. The significance? It was where they met when they were law students working as clerks. The stamp even landed in the hands of the judge! Neat stuff.

Option Two: Unused Vintage Postage Stamps

There is nothing more fun that finding vintage postage stamps for your envelopes. Remember you may need to use a lot of them to add up to the postage it requires to mail stamps these days. If you are hand addressing, consider you may need to allow extra space for those stamps. Do a sample first with stamps before you write on the envelopes! A good tip is to find as many high face-value stamps as possible first and add on accordingly. Anything above 15 cents is a seriously good find! Most vintage stamps range from 3 to 8 cents and if you do the math, you will need rows and rows of little ones to add up to the correct postage.

Tips:

Be sure they are unused (and confirm that they CAN be used for postage)

Look for a local stamp shop or on ebay (search unused US stamps), kenmore stamp, Champion Stamps

Option Three: During your engagement watch for limited edition stamps that are cool!

Right now there are some awesome "king and queen of hearts" stamps that are neat! It can be especially hard to find a large selection anymore especially as quickly as the post office has been raising postage rates. Good Luck everyone!
